Description
The Corporate Controller will supervise all accounting functions of the company. The person will establish and implement financial policies, perform risk assessments, and perform the monthly closing and preparation of financial statements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages a team covering day-to-day responsibilities of Accounting, Payroll and Banking.
Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
- Document and monitor financial policies and procedures, ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Produce and interpret balance sheets, income statements and cash flow. Ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Review journal entries and complete monthly detailed account reconciliations.
- Monitor closing processes, expenses, reimbursements, and payroll administration.
- Monitor the billing process to ensure that the daily billings reported reconcile to system activity and that the multiple billings processes align to the accounting activity that is reported.
- Evaluate and enhance financial controls and tax return procedures.
- Improve closing and reporting cycles.
- Reconcile book vs. perpetual inventory monthly. Participate in the routine physical inventory process to ensure that the documented process is followed, the analysis aligns with the source detail and root cause / corrective actions for variances are implemented.
- Maintain and manage plant-wide fixed assets.
- Maintain and manage capital expenditure schedules and reconciliations.
- Supervise production of the weekly payroll, approve cash required, ensure that tax payments are submitted properly and ensure that manage monthly and annual general ledger entries related to payroll reconcile to the payroll system.
- Support compliance activities for payroll and 401k reporting.
- Plan, lead and ensure that all audit activity for the company is properly executed. This includes financial audits, bank audits, tax audits and other related activities when required.
- Perform internal audits and financial risk assessments, as well as facilitate corrective actions.
- Oversee financial and accounting staff.
- Oversee and review daily banking and debt reporting, maximize returns on excess cash balances.
- Produce all banking compliance analysis. Maintain relationships with our financial partners to ensure that all inquiries are answered.
- Calculate and file miscellaneous state and federal monthly, quarterly, and annual tax forms.
- Evaluate new customer credit applications, recommend alternative terms when needed.
- Ensure that daily/weekly key supplier payments are completed and reviewed to ensure that they support the overall business strategy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration required, CPA and/or MBA preferred.
Eight to fifteen years or more of related experience required.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Experience with a manufacturing company preferred.
